What it is is a waste of taxpayer money, isn't it. About $100 after ordering the sign from the manufacturer and sending out a sign crew to replace the sign?
Why do people do grafitti? To show off their artwork. The more people that see their work, the prouder they are of the work and more encouraged to 'create' more. By placing this on your website, you are propogating his or her efforts to have people see their work. How many hundreds of signs are damaged annually in Ada County. If there are 100, that means the taxpayers are shelling out $10k - and I would bet that your sign folks annually replace more than 100 signs, probably closer to 200.
Any chance of recouping the lost money if the tagger is ever caught? Have you notified BPD? Or is this just the cost of doing business? Maybe offer a reward for the conviction of taggers based upon the amount of damage they have done and the amount of compensation you can get from them and/or their parents.

While I would likewise never condone defacing public property, a motorcycle-goods merchant offers a printed sticker that completes the sentence:
(STOP) driving - ride a motorcycle!
I think it was a Journey fan. Definitely.

Just a thought and a question.
